Vista Verde PTA cordially invites you to GUYS NIGHT!

Dear Parents,

Puberty can be an incredibly awkward and complex subject for both parent and child, but never fear – help is here!

Vista Verde PTA is hosting a FREE “Guys’ Night” program for our Fifth Grade Boys and their adult role models.  Dinner will be served during an interactive evening featuring Mr. Patrick Compton, an IUSD instructor who teaches the “Guys Stuff” curriculum throughout IUSD.

Why attend?  Studies have shown that parents and their children benefit from this type of experience for the following reasons:

  • Important for children to feel comfortable asking adults questions about puberty
  • Sends message that adults are valuable resources for young adolescents
  • Important for parents to instill in their children their personal values and beliefs about sex and sexuality
  • Presented facts about puberty will promote discussion
  • Young boys who are prepared for the changes they are about to experience in puberty will have decreased fears, reduced stress and reassurance that puberty is a very normal process
  • Sends message to your child that this is an important time in their life when many changes will occur and that you are showing your support

The following topics will be discussed at the GUYS NIGHT presentation:

1. Proper Hygiene

2. Proper Nutrition

3. Puberty

a. Physical changes

b. Emotional changes

c. Genetics

4. Responsibility and Adulthood

5. Sleep and Exercise

If you have any questions, please contact your Guys’ Night committee head at wendyzitzmanpta@gmail.com.

The goal of the program is to help you and your son establish rapport, enabling adult and child to feel comfortable communicating about puberty.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Best Regards,

Guys’ Night Committee
