With the new school year, Vista Verde has a new crossing guard. Her name is Jackie Connolly and up until this year, she has worked at Bonita Canyon. She will be at the newly assigned crosswalk on the backside of the school at Summit Park/Lone Tree. If you use that cross walk, please be sure to say “Hello!” to Ms. Connolly.

Maria Boyd was recognized at the May 7 IUSD Board of Eduation meeting with Superintendent Terry Walker, Irvine Teachers Association President Teri Sorey, and IUSD Board President Lauren Brooks for her years of service to students and the District prior to her upcoming June 30th retirement.

The South Coast Chinese Cultural Center / Irvine Chinese School, in partnership with the Irvine Unified School District, has the opportunity to create and offer an after school Mandarin immersion program for students in grades K-3 during the 2019-20 school year.

This is the fifth year IUSD and the City of Irvine have partnered with OCFA on a water safety campaign for Irvine. On Saturday, June 9 from 9-11 a.m. at the Irvine Civic Center (1 Civic Center Plaza), the Irvine Police Department will host a free bike safety class for kids who are 6-11 years old. The program will cover the following safety fundamentals:
· Advice for traveling along safe routes
· Practical, emergency and defensive riding
· Situational awareness
· Common courtesy skills
· Bicycle and equipment maintenance
· Pedestrian safety

Attention Middle Schoolers, our last Middle School dance of the year is coming up. 6th and 7th graders are invited to the Vista Verde 8th Grade Dance on May 31, 6:15pm – 8:15pm at the MPR. Permission slips were given out on during advisement. The forms are due back by May 17 at the school front office or to the student’s advisor.
