The Youth Action Team (YAT) is an after-school community service based program that encourages students to be actively involved in their community. YAT is a great way for students to learn new skills, experience new challenges and make new friends.  See attached flyer for more information.

Wondering When Kona Ice is at School?

Kona Ice will be at school on Wednesday, September 11th and Wednesday, September 18th.

Before and After School Supervision Information

Supervision before and after school:

Students arriving on campus from 8:00-8:15 a.m. must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or the student must report to the media center/library where supervision is available.

After 8:15 a.m., school supervision begins and students can be on campus with or without a parent or guardian. Students should plan to arrive at school at or after 8:15 a.m. and leave by 3:15 p.m. Structured supervision is provided from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Playground Equipment:

Personal playground balls and equipment should be used only at home. Please keep those items at home. Sports equipment and playground balls are provided during recess(es) and lunch for students to use on the playground. We invite parents to use the next door Las Lomas park if they would like to play sports or other games with students prior to or after the end of the school day.

Cell Phones:

Before school: students should keep phones secure and turned off stored in their pocket or in backpacks (i.e. iPhones, smart phones, etc.).

After school: students are permitted to use their own cell phone only when contacting a parent and/or guardian.

BYOD (middle school only): Bring Your Own Device rules apply anytime students are on campus.

Team Kids Challenge at Vista Verde – Week 2

Kids work with local Police Officers, Firefighters and Team Kids Coaches to learn they are not too little to change the world while tackling the needs of their community.

Modified Schedule Next Week – ParentsTeacher Conference, Aug 26 – Aug 30

Next week is conference week at Vista Verde. School is on a modified schedule with early dismissal Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. There will be no school on Tuesday, Aug 27th.
– Gr 1-3 – 1:25pm dismissal
– Gr 4-8 – 1:30pm dismissal

Viking Voices Kickoff Meeting – August 21 – Wednesday

All middle school students are invited to join Viking Voices, our public speaking club that meets alternating Wednesdays.

No prior experience is necessary. We practice interpersonal communication skills and leadership skills in a fun and supportive environment. Meetings are student led and mentored by parent volunteers.

The first meeting of the year is Wednesday, August 21st, 1:30-2:30 pm in Mrs. Jacobs’ classroom, #18.
