Rubik’s Cube Challenge- At Family Fun Night

Come by the Rubik’s Cube Booth for some fun timed challenges.  Stop by the booth at around 4:30pm to register for your event or just come by to watch the friendly competition.  The speed rounds will begin at 5pm.

Red Ribbon Week- Spirit Week & Walk to School Day

Red Ribbon Week is Oct 21 to Oct 25.  It is a drug-prevention campaign celebrated nationwide.  We have a variety of Spirit Wear days to help show our support for RRW.  Plus, our annual “Walk/Bike/Scoot to School Day” is on Wednesday, October 23rd.  See attached flyer for all the details.

Harvest Cup Tournament-Deadline to join – October 21 – Monday

Have fun representing Vista Verde at this year’s Harvest Cup for boys and girls in grades 3-8. The tournament will be held on December 6-8 at OC Great Park.

All students are welcome to try out. The registration fee $35 per person (price includes 2 T-shirts) Register online at http://www.ocyouthsports.org/irvine.

Viking Voices Meeting Date Changed to October 23 – Wednesday

Viking Voices for Middle School (public speaking club) dates have changed for this month. The 10/16 and 10/30 dates have been cancelled and replaced with Wednesday, 10/23. The meeting will be at the usual time 1:30-2:30 pm in Mrs. Jacobs’ classroom #18. All middle school students are welcome to attend, even if this is your first visit! Gaming, Social Media and Mental Wellness Presentation – October 23 – Wednesday

In partnership with Hoag Hospital, IUSD has developed the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Speaker Series. In this session, speakers will discuss the impact that excessive gaming and social media can have on children and teens, including irritability, depression and anxiety.

Parents will learn to recognize the differences between normal behaviors and potentially harmful ones and what they can do to support their children.  There will be a question and answer period at the end of the presentation.  This is a free event (No RSVP needed) and open to the public (16+ recommended).  Attached to this email is the event flyer.

Mathleague – October 26 – Saturday

The elementary competition is for any 3-6th grader and will take place 8:00AM- 12:00PM. If you are interested in the elementary competition, sign up here.

The middle school competition is for any 6-8th grader and will take place 1:00PM- 5:00PM. If you are interested in the middle school competition, sign up here.

We still need parents to help with grading and proctoring on the day of the Mathleague competition. If you are interested, please sign up here.
