Interested in finding out more about our PTA? After you drop off your kids, come to our PTA Kickoff Coffee Connection, and let us welcome you to the school year with some hot coffee – on us!

If you’ve been a bit curious about PTA, but have yet to take the next step, this will be a great opportunity to learn more about how our PTA works, ask questions, meet our reps, and chat with other families.

WHEN: Friday, July 27, 8:30am
WHERE: In front of the school, outside of the MPR

ALEKS Math Subscription Discount for VV Students Third Grade and Up

We will be lucky enough to again offer discounted ALEKS Math subscriptions for at-home, independent study use only, for our VV families grades 3 and up. Since the extended-length, 46 week subscriptions, which allowed students to continue using ALEKS throughout Summer Break, worked well, we shall stick with that subscription duration.

This program is entirely optional, not endorsed by Vista Verde, but made available due to continued parent requests. Please see the attached, fill-in-able order form for more information.

There will be a strict order deadline of FRIDAY, JULY 27, 2018. No orders will be accepted after that date. Orders need to be turned into to the VV Front Office, NOT to the child’s teacher, Friday folder, Homework folder, etc. For more information, please contact valerieschiano@iusd.org.

Viking Voices Public Speaking!

Would you like to improve your public speaking and communication skills? Join us for Viking Voices, a student-led group mentored by Vista Verde parents for grades 6-8. Have fun while getting the speaking practice you will need for middle school and beyond!

Our wonderful Vista Verde volunteers, if you plan to volunteer again this year in Vista Verde, you need to register in the Raptor system. If you miss the link in the parent portal when you confirm your data, here is the instructions: https://iusd.org/parents/parent-involvement/volunteers

After you complete the online application, you need to present a valid state issued ID (i.e. driver’s license) at the front office to have it scanned to complete the process.

As your Co-Presidents, they are here to represent and communicate the needs, concerns, and questions for our Vista Verde community. The mission of the Vista Verde PTA is to advocate for our children’s education through building a community in our school with strong family engagement.

Families, teachers, and staff are the backbone and heart of our amazing community. We encourage you to look for opportunities to volunteer and share your experience and talents for the betterment of our school (small or big-time commitment).

Back To School Nights – July 18 & 19

Back to School Nights are a great opportunity for you to hear from the school and staff about your child’s instructional program for the new school year.

School will be sending email out with more details but here are some dates for you to mark on your calendar:

July 18 – Middle School Back to School Night 6-8pm
July 19 – Elementary (1st-5th) Back to School Night

Please note that these are parents-only event, so you may want to start planning for child care if needed.
