The Middle School Youth Action Team is an after-school community service based program that encourages students to be actively involved in their communities. Coed Volleyball (114635)

Bump, set, and spike in this fun, structured after-school program that covers basic volleyball skills such as serving, passing, and setting. Teams will compete against other middle schools at the end of the session in a district-wide tournament! All skill levels welcome. Dave and Busters Outing (120860)

Who doesn’t love arcade games and tasty food? Join us for a trip to Dave and Busters to play games and hang out with friends on a Friday night! AMC8 Middle School Math Competition

The AMC 8 is a multiple choice math competition held by the Mathematical Association of America for middle school students, in grades 6-8. Students test their knowledge of middle school math including pre-algebra, geometry, counting and probability, number theory, reading information on charts and graphs and beginning algebra.

Test duration is 40 minutes and calculators are not allowed.

Test Date: Monday, January 27 at 3pm
Test Location: Mrs. Jones’s classroom

Parents should plan on picking up at the front of the school at 4:00 PM.  Registration is required. Walk-ins or late sign ups cannot be accommodated. Sign up now by completing the registration form here: AMC8 math test signup 

Vista Verde Chess Team

The Vista Verde PTA-AEFA committee is thrilled to announce the launch of the Vista Verde Chess Team, offered through the IPSF-ACE Program. Whether you’re a beginner or an intermediate player, our Chess Team program is the perfect way to sharpen your skills and enjoy the game of kings!

Limited spots are available! Sign up today by filling out the registration form. The first 14 students to register per level will secure a spot. You will receive a confirmation email from IPSF-ACE with instructions to complete the registration in a week if your registration is successful!

Classes will be held twice a month on Wednesdays from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM:

Who Can Join
Vista Verde students, 1st-8th grade. Two levels, Beginner and Intermediate. Minimum 8 and maximum 14 students per class.

  • Intermediate: Advanced tactics, famous games, strategies, and master-level skills.

Class Highlights

Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad-Elementary: A Fun and Educational Extracurricular Activity!
Science Olympiad is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing K-12 science education, fostering a love for science, and recognizing outstanding academic achievement. This engaging program offers a hands-on approach to learning that promotes teamwork, cooperation, and problem-solving skills.
 
Who Can Compete?
Students in Grades 4 to 6 at Vista Verde who have an interest in advanced science and engineering are encouraged to join!
Team Commitments:
  • Each student will be assigned up to three science events.
  • Teamwork with fellow VV students is required.
  • Weekly independent study is essential.
  • Parent volunteering/coaching is required for participation.
  • Attendance at the OC Regional Tournament on May 3, 2025, is mandatory. Please do not enroll if you cannot commit to being there!

City of Irvine Middle School Galentine’s Day Event

The City of Irvine’s Middle School Youth Outreach is hosting their 7th Annual Galentine’s Day: Girl Empowerment Workshop and your daughter is invited to join a fun and fulfilling evening! The theme this year “Love me to pieces” will focus on all the things that make us who we are.

The Galentine’s Day event will host 120 girls and provide them with various workshops to give them the tools they need to be their best selves. Girls will rotate through the workshops focusing on ‘me (self-identity), you (empathy) and us (community & friendships) topics. Friends from Girls Inc. will also be there to support the event!

This event is for girls 6th-8th grade.

All girls that attend will receive an event shirt and a goody bag filled with lots of fun stuff and some supplies from our workshops.
