IUSD GATE Information and Book Club Meetings
IUSD hosts a General Gifted And Talented Education (GATE) Informational and Book Club meeting four times a year. The meetings are open to all IUSD parents. The bookclub selection will be themed around education and parenting. The title will be announced in October.
Meetings are scheduled from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at IUSD’s Learning Center, 3387 Barranca Parkway, Irvine, CA 92606, on the following dates:
- Tuesday, October, 15, 2019, Room 5, Book Introduction, Overview of IUSD GATE Screening & Program Model.
- Thursday, December 12, 2019, Room 5, Book Part I Discussion, Overview of APAAS Program & Application Process.
- Thursday, February 12, 2020, Room 4, Book Part II Discussion, Meet the CAC-GATE Board
- Wednesday, April 29, 2020, Room 5, Book Part III Discussion.

Team Kids Challenge at Vista Verde – Week 2
Kids work with local Police Officers, Firefighters and Team Kids Coaches to learn they are not too little to change the world while tackling the needs of their community.

Annual Vista Verde Jog-A-Thon – March 22 – Today
Our annual VV Jog-A-Thon is today, March 22, the Friday before our Spring recess. Families and siblings are welcome to run with our students on March 22.
March 22 is also an Modified day. K-5th grades will be dismissed at 1:25pm and 6th through 8th grades will be dismissed at 1:30pm.
Spring Recess
Vista Verde students will have a three weeks Spring recess starting March 25. School will resume on April 15 Monday.

You may still be able to purchase T-shirt now through the day of the event but sizes may be limited. Families and siblings are welcome to run with our students on March 22.

Kindergarten Roundup – 2019-2020 – February 28 – Thursday
Thursday, February 28, 2019 has been designated, “Kindergarten Round Up” in the
Irvine Unified School District. Vista Verde’s Kindergarten Round Up will take place
at 6:00 pm in our MPR. We invite all incoming 2019-2020 Kindergarten parents to
attend. We will review schedules, readiness for Kindergarten and our grade level
program. This is a great opportunity for parents to have their questions answered.
Kindergarten Roundup up is an evening designed for parents only.
Children must be 5 years old on or before September 2, 2019 to enroll in
kindergarten. Children who turn 5 years old between September 2, 2019 and December
2, 2019 are eligible to enroll in IUSD’s transitional kindergarten program which are located
at other sites in our area. Parents may begin the pre-registration process for their
kindergarten or transitional kindergarten child online at www.iusd.org beginning on March
1st for the 2019-2020 school year. After submitting the online registration, please call
our office at 949-936-6350 to make an appointment to complete the registration
process if you’re unable to make an appointment at Kindergarten Roundup.
IPSF Summer Program Registration Opens March 18 – Monday
Students can choose their own adventure this summer at IPSF’s summer enrichment program. Become a
top chef, program the next epic video game, or create an original masterpiece. With over 400 classes to
choose from, the sky is the limit! Students can explore interests or discover a new passion. Classes for
grades K-8 will begin June 13 at locations throughout Irvine. High School session begins June 11.
