Irvine Junior Game

Dear Vista Verde Parents,

It’s that time of the year again for Irvine Junior Games. What is Irvine Junior Games? It’s basically a track and field day where students from the same grade can compete with other students from Irvine schools. Here’s a little more background information about Irvine Junior Games:

The Irvine Children’s Fund (ICF) is pleased to announce the kick off and celebration of the 31st ANNUAL IRVINE JUNIOR GAMES (IJG), which will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2018, at Irvine Stadium.

Through the Irvine Junior Games, corporate and personal sponsorships, and grants, the Irvine Children’s Fund proudly donated more than $1,7400,000 for childcare scholarships to over 1,500 children. Additionally, $230,900 was donated to maintain and expand childcare facilities, and $21,900 to complete the ADA upgrades at 7 child care sites. ICF also donated more than $199,000 in grants for instructional and athletic equipment to participating schools and $172,000 to childcare sites for activities and supplies. These donations now total over $2.8 million and serve as an awesome contribution to help our childcare sites and schools.

For 2017-2018, ICF committed $120,000 to before and After School Child Care Scholarships on the childcare sites. The Irvine Junior Games celebrates its 31st year and its continued growth and success because of the partnership among the IUSD, the Irvine Child Care Project, the Irvine Children’s Fund, and Games. We continue to have 100% participation from the 30 elementary and middle schools with more than 1,500 students in grades 4-8 participating in the track and field events, including special events for the Adaptive P.E. students.
