Volunteer or Visitor Badges

Just a reminder, anyone on campus must have a badge on during school hours either inside OR outside the building. Our school staff have had to remind several folks, particularly in the lunch and playground areas, to return to the office to sign-in. Staff is trained to question anyone without a volunteer, visitor, or district badge. Thank you for your support of our safety procedures.

Parking Lot Protocol and Drop-off /Pick-up Procedures

As we enter our 5th month of school, please take some time to re-read and review our comprehensive parking lot procedures. We encourage you to share this information with grandparents and other caregivers who may come to school to either drop off or pick up your child. Please embrace our S.T.A.R. philosophy by being Safe School Community Members to others while driving in our parking lot. We work hard to keep kids safe at all times while on campus. Thank you so much for your assistance in ensuring that all families follow these guidelines to keep our students safe.

Some specific tips:

  1. Drivers, please STAY IN your vehicle at all times in the loading zone. If you need to exit the vehicle you must park in the lot.
  2. PULL FORWARD at all times in the loading zone to allow for as many cars to line up as possible. Please do not stop short and leave spaces between cars.
  3. Cars should never be left unattended on the yellow curb. Please park in a space in the lot if you must leave your vehicle.
  4. Please park if you have large musical instruments or large items to unload from the back of your vehicle.

What is the 2020 Census and Why Does it Matter?

As mandated by the Constitution, the U.S. Census Bureau conducts a nationwide population count once every 10 years. Along with determining the number of congressional seats and electoral votes for each state, this data serves as the basis for allocating nearly $900 billion in federal funds for education, housing, public safety and other vital services.

Recognizing the importance of an accurate count for schools and communities, IUSD is among many organizations supporting awareness efforts in Irvine, in advance of the 2020 census this April. California is expected to lose nearly $2,000 per person in annual federal funding as a result of undercounting, which could have significant impacts for Irvine and California as a whole.

What You Need to Know (from census.gov):

  • Your privacy matters.  When you respond to the Census, your answers are kept anonymous.  Answers are used only to produce statistics.  The U.S. Census Bureau is bound by law to protect your answers and keep them strictly confidential.  The law ensures that your private information is never published and that your answers cannot be used against you by any government agency or court.
  •  There are three ways to respond to the Census.  By April 1, 2020, every home will receive an invitation to participate in the 2020 Census and you will be given the option to respond online, by phone or by mail.
  • Avoid scams.  The Census Bureau will never send you unsolicited emails, ask for your social security number, bank account or credit card numbers, or for money or donations.
  •  Get involved.  You can partner, spread the word, and/or work for the Census Bureau.
