Science Olympiad-Elementary: A Fun and Educational Extracurricular Activity!

Science Olympiad is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing K-12 science education, fostering a love for science, and recognizing outstanding academic achievement. This engaging program offers a hands-on approach to learning that promotes teamwork, cooperation, and problem-solving skills.

Who Can Compete?

Students in Grades 4 to 6 at Vista Verde who have an interest in advanced science and engineering are encouraged to join!

Team Commitments:

  • Each student will be assigned up to three science events.
  • Teamwork with fellow VV students is required.
  • Weekly independent study is essential.
  • Parent volunteering/coaching is required for participation.
  • Attendance at the OC Regional Tournament on May 32025, is mandatory. Please do not enroll if you cannot commit to being there!

AMC8 Middle School Math Competition

The AMC 8 is a multiple choice math competition held by the Mathematical Association of America for middle school students, in grades 6-8. Students test their knowledge of middle school math including pre-algebra, geometry, counting and probability, number theory, reading information on charts and graphs and beginning algebra.

Test duration is 40 minutes and
calculators are not allowed.Test Date: Thursday, January 23 at 3pm

Test Location: Mrs. Jones’s classroom

Turtle Rock Nature Center Plant Workshop

Turtle Rock Nature Center is hosting an educational workshop about the importance of native plants on January 25th, from 10am – 11am.. The workshop will be interactive and consist of activities like a guided nature walk, guessing games, and trivia questions. Students in grades 6-8 are welcome to join. City of Irvine Middle School Galentine’s Day Event

The City of Irvine’s Middle School Youth Outreach is hosting their 7th Annual Galentine’s Day: Girl Empowerment Workshop and your daughter is invited to join a fun and fulfilling evening! The theme this year “Love me to pieces” will focus on all the things that make us who we are.

The Galentine’s Day event will host 120 girls and provide them with various workshops to give them the tools they need to be their best selves. Girls will rotate through the workshops focusing on ‘me (self-identity), you (empathy) and us (community & friendships) topics. Friends from Girls Inc. will also be there to support the event!

This event is for girls 6th-8th grade.

All girls that attend will receive an event shirt and a goody bag filled with lots of fun stuff and some supplies from our workshops.

JCCOC Youth After School Pickleball Program

Calling all 1st to 5th graders! The JCC is offering an exciting after school Pickleball program that is the perfect opportunity for kids to learn, play, and develop their skills in a fun and supportive environment.

When: Starts on February 3rd

1st – 3rd Grade:

  • Mondays: 3:45pm – 4:45pm
  • Wednesdays: 2:00pm – 3:00pm

  • Tuesdays: 3:45pm – 4:45pm
  • Wednesdays: 3:30pm – 4:30pm

Where: JCC OC Outdoor Pickleball Courts

The Middle School Youth Action Team is an after-school community service based program that encourages students to be actively involved in their communities. Bump, set, and spike in this fun, structured after-school program that covers basic volleyball skills such as serving, passing, and setting. Teams will compete against other middle schools at the end of the session in a district-wide tournament! All skill levels welcome. Dave and Busters Outing (120860)

Who doesn’t love arcade games and tasty food? Join us for a trip to Dave and Busters to play games and hang out with friends on a Friday night! This a great way to meet new people and rack up those tokens for some cool prizes. Teens ar also welcome to walk the Irvine Spectrum. Hoops Classic Basketball Tournament
