Team Kids Carnival – Parent Volunteers Needed

Come enjoy the best kid-run carnival ever during all lunch times on Friday, Sep 20th with 100% of proceeds going to City of Irvine Animal Care Center.

In preparation for the carnival, some parent volunteers are needed to help with Ticket Sales before and during the event. Please contact Nori Deatherage at NoriDeatherage@iusd.org if you are available to help out. Thank you.

Family Fun Night – Volunteers Needed – Oct 25th – Friday

Family Fun Night is the PTA’s biggest community and fundraising event of the year. Please consider volunteering for this fabulous event. There are several volunteer opportunities available. Please sign up online at FFN Volunteers. Thank you for your support.

Team Kids Challenge at Vista Verde – Week 3

Kids work with local Police Officers, Firefighters and Team Kids Coaches to learn they are not too little to change the world while tackling the needs of their community.

Before and After School Supervision Information

Supervision before and after school:

Students arriving on campus from 8:00-8:15 a.m. must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or the student must report to the media center/library where supervision is available.

After 8:15 a.m., school supervision begins and students can be on campus with or without a parent or guardian. Students should plan to arrive at school at or after 8:15 a.m. and leave by 3:15 p.m. Structured supervision is provided from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Playground Equipment:

Personal playground balls and equipment should be used only at home. Please keep those items at home. Sports equipment and playground balls are provided during recess(es) and lunch for students to use on the playground. We invite parents to use Las Lomas park next door if they would like to play sports or other games with students prior to or after the end of the school day.

Cell Phones:

Before school: students should keep phones secure and turned off and stored in their pocket or in backpacks (i.e. iPhones, smart phones, etc.).

After school: students are permitted to use their own cell phone only when contacting a parent and/or guardian.

BYOD (middle school only): Bring Your Own Device rules apply anytime students are on campus.

Mathleague competition for 3-8th grade – October 26 – Saturday

Calling all Mathletes! Vista Verde will be hosting a Mathleague competition on Saturday October 26, 2019. The elementary competition for 3-6th grade will be in the morning 8:00AM-12:00PM. The middle school competition for 6-8th grade will be in the afternoon 1:00PM-5:00PM. There are 3 individual rounds and 1 team round.

For elementary:

Number Sense Round – This 10-minute round consists of 80 problems that are designed to be solved mentally.
Sprint Round – This is a 40-minute multiple choice round consisting of thirty questions.
Target Round – Four pairs of problems are administered, and students have 6 minutes to complete each pair.
Team Round – One to four team members work together for 20 minutes to answer ten questions. Students will team up with other students from their own school on the day of the competition.

For middle school:

Sprint Round – This is a 40-minute round consisting of thirty questions.
Target Round – Four pairs of problems are administered, and students have 6 minutes to complete each pair.
Team Round – One to four team members work together for 20 minutes to answer ten questions. Students will team up with other students from their own school on the day of the competition.
Countdown Round – These questions are administered one at a time to students who compete head to head.

City of Irvine – Vista Verde Youth Action Team- Online Registration Now Open

The Youth Action Team (YAT) is an after-school community service based program that encourages students to be actively involved in their community. YAT is a great way for students to learn new skills, experience new challenges and make new friends.  See attached flyer for more information.
